Painting

The next step is painting.
Since I wasn't able to get a hold of set of airbrush
I had to use brush

First, I sand down some hard edge etc.
then I get a light coat of silver blue because that will be my base color

Next, I paint the silver and finally the black

you can see the step I took here

Wireframe

Just finish fooling around with some wires for the base of my character
I hope it will be enough to support my character

in the photo, I used only 2 support, but in the final wireframe.. I used 3 support since the head turn out to be a bit heavy for the 2 leg to support it

i used epoxy to secure the wires to the base, and using thin wires to tie them togather and add a bit of epoxy on them

the height of my figure will be about 6-7 inch tall

testing camera...
I only manage to take 2-3 shots with my newly repaired 5700 yesterday
so I am not sure if they did a good job or not
they flash my 5700 with new firmware
it seem the lack time between shots have been improve a tiny bit...
but the auto focus still sucks..

Sculpey Concept

Got my Nikon 5700 back today...
guess what... the parts and repair was FREE!!!!
It turns out some Nikon 5700 and a few other models have a problem with the CCD and have been recalled back in 2005
Now that I got my camera back, I can have some fun again..
of course, deep inside me I still wish the camera cannot be repair coz I really want a Nikon D80 or a D70s
maybe I will pick one of those up when I earn some money within this 2 years

Just finish doing a few touch up on my concept for the character

Skateboard Project Outline

Here are the steps for my skateboard design
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Finally, the breakdown of the time/money on this design

Time
Research: 6 hours (going to skate shop/skate park)
Brainstorm Ideas with Alex: 4 hours
Sketches: 2 hour
Illustrator: 8hours
Total 20 Hours (this design only)

Budget
Blank Skate Deck $40
Truck x2 $40
Wheels x4 $20
Color Test Print x2 (8.5x11) $5
Full Sticker Print $30 x2 *our class knows the reason*

Almost done

After the feathers, I want to balance the 2 character a bit more.
Since the angel get feathers, the devil should get fire.

the only thing left to do is printing and mounting to the skate board

the final design

and for the final touch... the artists signature (me)

The Angel is Flying

From the start of this design, I didn't want to put a halo on the angel.
First, it would unbalance the 2 character being back to back.
Second, I think is ugly, and I hate HALO.

One of the way for me to show the character being an angel is wings, but with the limited space, there isn't any room for the wings.

The only option left for me to use is feathers.

I just use the same technique for the feathers using strokes and brushes

Here comes the DEVIL

The next step is to draw the devil.
Unlike the angel, the devil doesn't look good with hair.
The horn is enough to allow the viewer to know this is the devil.

At first, I didn't want to put in the hand since I want the 2 face to be the size of at least half the board.

but after drawing both angel and devil, I've notice there isn't enough room for the face on the skate board...

the result..

Next Step

Playing around with stokes and brushes, I've created the angel outline and face.
If you look at the picture, you will see the paths for the hair, I've only change the thickness of the stroke to create the hair.

Drawing with illustrator

Instead of drawing this design by hand and scanning it as a picture. I decided to use Illustrator only.
first, I draw the shape of the human side view

Skate Project Sketches

I start my research on this assignment last Wed, manage to go to a few skate board stores and call up a few friends who used to skateboard for information.

I did a bit of research online to look for ideas and concepts which have been taken, so I wont make the mistake of doing the same things others have made.

My first concept was a skater in a cartoonish style, which didn't turn out as good as I hope it would be.

Last Wed, Alex suggest we should get togather to think of ideas

On Thur, We manage to spend 12 hours just thinking of different ideas and visit some skate shop, by the time we were finish. we manage to get around 10 different ideas and sketches. We named each of the design.

I am not gonna show all the ideas here since I am not the only one who thought of them. There will be more info on our joint project page soon.

Out of the 10 designs I 've decide to do the "back to back"
The idea of this design is having an angel back to back with a devil
using only black and white...

this is the first sketch of how I want to place the 2 character
